Kotobukiya S.A.C.

Logicoma with Kusanagi & Aramaki

Kit Review

Straight build

The Logicoma from Ghost in the Shell: Arise has arrived as a Kotobukiya plastic model kit. As you can see, it's a compact little size, just like the previous Tachikoma kit. Small as it is, the various design details have been faithfully reproduced.

First off, I'd give it points for how well it captures the Logicoma's distinctive leg articulation. The legs extend and retract together with the armor, and the wheels rotate too, so it seems like you can pull off just about every pose the design calls for. The one downside, though, is that the ball joints where the legs connect are a bit weak, so the legs tend to pop off easily.

As for other design details, you can choose between 1-barrel or 3-barrel anchor launchers, the hatch opens and closes via a moving part, and the rear container opens via a detachable lid. The eyes rotate on ball joints, and the manipulators deploy via a parts-swap — pretty much all the design features have been packed in there in fine detail.

On top of that, just like the Tachikoma, it comes with detailed figures of Kusanagi Motoko and Aramaki Daisuke, along with a puppet autonomous mine from Ghost in the Shell: PAIN (the female-shaped robot that runs up and self-destructs).

Some of the joints are a bit flimsy, but given how many little gimmicks are crammed into such a small kit, it's a great gift for Ghost in the Shell fans. The price, though — ¥3,800, which is ¥500 more than the Tachikoma — feels a bit steep for the size. -_- ;;
