Solidea, from Square Enix's arcade game "Paradox of Stars and Wings," has been released as a Kotobukiya plastic model. It comes in a large box — think high-end MG territory — packed with a ton of parts, though once you're done building, the finished product is a modest HG-sized figure. ^^;
With as many parts as it has for its size, the color separation is excellent and the straight build looks really impressive. Notably, a large number of clear blue parts are used throughout, and the four flexible main wings on the back add a real sense of flair. Articulation is fairly average, but the joints are nice and tight so poses hold well — there's also a neat gimmick where you can extend the elbow to get a bit more range of motion.
The included weapon is a large Fire Scythe, which can be switched from shooting mode to close-combat mode by adding a large beam part. Two types of hands with great detail are also included, though the fingers are extremely sharp so watch out. The holding hand has a peg on the palm that fits into the hole on the weapon's handle, letting it grip the large, heavy Fire Scythe nice and securely. That said, the body is complex and the weapon is big, so keeping it standing on its own without the included stand is no easy task.
Overall, this kit has that signature Kotobukiya feel — precise color separation and a satisfyingly tight build — and the general quality is excellent. If you're a fan of the game or just love the look of it, this one is definitely worth picking up. :-)
