Wildfalken has arrived as the 5th Super Robot Wars kit. First off, true to Kotobukiya form, this is a kit with overall excellent color separation — not perfect, but they've done their best to break down even the smaller parts nicely, so even a straight build gives you a pretty colorful result.
That said, a lot of the smaller parts don't hold together very well, so I'd strongly recommend gluing them down before they go flying off into the void. The shoulder structure in particular has a tendency to spontaneously disassemble (??) without glue.. so it's best to secure those parts with adhesive whenever possible.
Once you've got all those loose parts properly glued down, the overall poly-cap joint strength is actually better than previous Kotobukiya kits, giving the whole thing a solid, stable feel. The big Oxtongue Rifle in particular connects to the hand really well and holds on super firmly — which makes striking action poses a breeze. Given the size of that rifle, the grip gets a perfect 100 out of 100. (Learn from this, Bandai!)
The Tesla Drive on the back also has great articulation, though it doesn't spread out fully open like in the official specs.
(The full Tesla Drive deployment will be implemented in future limited and combined editions.)
The molded colors are a bit of a mixed bag though — the bright blue and the somewhat yellowish body color feel a little... candy toy-ish in places. It's kind of soft and pastel-looking from one angle, and from another it can look a bit... cheap, but the color combination itself is actually pretty nice.
Overall, it's a great kit that shows Kotobukiya's lineup is steadily maturing. :-)
