Kotobukiya Super Robot War

Wildwürger High Mobility Type

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Wildwürger High Mobility Type, which is essentially the base unit version of the previously released Wildwürger Heavy Armor Type. Lore-wise, adding heavy armor on top of the High Mobility Type is what makes it the Heavy Armor Type, and since the scale is a small 1/144, these two kits were released as separate kits rather than as a swap-out system.

Overall, it pulls off a much more complex color combination compared to the Heavy Armor Type, and does it really nicely. Joint strength and articulation are both excellent across the board, delivering quality that's nearly on par with Bandai.

What's interesting is that while the Heavy Armor Type and the High Mobility Type share the same basic structure and weapons, these two kits are designed 100% differently. What I mean is — the rifle, the weapon units on both forearms, the head, and so on have absolutely no reason to differ from the Heavy Armor Type (since it's just armor being added on top), yet the design and color separation have all been freshly improved. If it were Bandai, they'd have just thrown in the same parts even if they were 10 years old, but here they went ahead and completely redesigned weapons of the same structure within just a few years — for whatever reason. In a way, it makes you think Kotobukiya is genuinely big-hearted..

Anyway, the quality is top-notch even among Super Robot Wars kits, and the design is flashy and eye-catching, so the Wildwürger High Mobility Type has turned out even cooler than the Heavy Armor Type. Katoki Hajime's designs really do look refined no matter when you look at them.. :-)
