Kotobukiya Super Robot War

Alteisen Nacht

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Decals

This kit is the Alteisen Nacht, a color variant of the original Alteisen kit. Aside from the molded color changing from red to blue, it's structurally 100% identical. That said, the original Alteisen had a revised version with improved polycaps, and the Alteisen Nacht is of course based on that revised release. Thankfully, the hip polycaps are much improved compared to the first release — they don't seem to wobble or tear. ^^

In addition to the molded color change from red to blue, the Nacht version also includes the Shishio Blade sword and two extra sets of dedicated hands. That bumps the price up by ¥400, which might seem a bit steep depending on how you look at it — but by Kotobukiya's usual pricing standards, it's probably a reasonable increase.

Since this is fundamentally a kit built around looking cool, you shouldn't expect much in the way of articulation — it's pretty much standing poses only. Sure, you can get some action poses going by making use of the arm and shoulder Square Claymore open gimmicks, but the legs are basically fixed in place, which is the real issue..

Anyway, being an early Kotobukiya kit, it's a bit rough around the edges in terms of build refinement — but for those who love a kit that just looks awesome on the shelf, it's a pretty solid choice. :-)
