Kotobukiya Super Robot War

Fairlion Type-G

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the Fairlion Type-S, the Type-G has now been released, and the base body design is 100% identical. The only differences are the color scheme — which is more vibrant — and the Buster Rail Gun as its weapon. On top of that, hands for the Royal Heart Break action are included as a bonus.

Since the base body is 100% identical, the kit shares all the same characteristics as the Fairlion Type-S — a very small size, flashy color separation/combination, and joint strength that's a little on the stiff side. It's a kit that really needs to be placed on a stand since the feet are too small to stand on their own, and the same downside applies where the 5 feathers on the skirt tend to fall off easily.

In terms of color alone, the Type-G feels a bit prettier than the Type-S — but more precisely, I think these two female-type robots look their absolute best when displayed together in the Royal Heart Break pose. It almost makes you wonder if the whole reason this unit was added to the lineup was just to make that Royal Heart Break pose possible. Either way, these are kits you just want to put on display somewhere front and center ^^

The size is a bit small for the price, and the build feel isn't quite as satisfying as other Super Robot Wars kits — but with its flashy, clean color separation and the unique charm that only a pretty female-type character can bring, I think this is still a very appealing kit :-)
