Kotobukiya Zoid HMM

RHI-3 Command Wolf Repackage Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is a repackage version of the HMM Zoids Command Wolf released in 2007. It takes the original Command Wolf runners and molded colors as-is, then bundles in the Attack unit (AC version) and Long Range Rifle (LC version) that had previously been released as separate versions and limited editions.

It's essentially an all-in-one gift set with every Command Wolf weapon included — the Attack unit and Long Range Rifle have been recolored to match the normal version Command Wolf's molded colors. The stickers from before have been swapped out for waterslide decals, keeping up with recent trends, and perhaps feeling a bit guilty about just throwing in the old runners unchanged, they did at least separate the chin piece from the runner and paint it in gold.

Since it's really just a collection of existing stuff, there's nothing new to speak of. That said, for an early HMM Zoids kit, the base quality was decent enough, so it doesn't feel bad overall. There's still the issue of the polycaps connecting to the legs popping out easily, and the snap-fit isn't quite perfect for a bond-free build.

This kit is really only meaningful for those who are new to Command Wolf and looking to pick one up for the first time — it honestly feels like a pretty half-hearted new release... That said, it does have some value in that it bundles in weapons that were previously limited edition exclusives into one full package. :-)
