Kotobukiya Zoid HMM

Command Wolf Irvine Custom

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Command Wolf Irvine Custom (IC), a limited edition version of the Command Wolf. Just like the previously released Command Wolf LC limited edition, it's equipped with the long-range rifle, and it's essentially a simple color variant with only the molded colors changed.

That said, it seems they felt a little embarrassed about just swapping the molded colors, so the front leg armor pieces come pre-painted, and the pilot figure is also painted and packaged separately. However, the paint quality on the pilot is pretty rough, so don't get your hopes up. On top of that, a separately produced sticker sheet is also included.

Since this is just a simple color variant limited edition, there isn't a whole lot to go over — you really just need to check out the new color scheme. The combination of black and that brownish-yellow gives it a dark, weighty feel, but the kit itself is on the smaller side, so it doesn't exactly command a strong presence.

Most Kotobukiya limited editions tend to throw in some kind of special parts, but this kit is essentially a re-run of the existing runners, which is a bit of a letdown. It's a kit that's really only notable for adding another color variant to the lineup, but for anyone who's been wanting the Irvine color scheme, it was probably a pretty welcome limited release. :-)
