As a variation of the Blade Liger, the blue Blade Liger AB Vang Ver. has been released. Before this, there was the Blade Liger AB limited edition — which had red molded colors and came with the Attack Booster — but it seems they didn't want to let the Attack Booster go to waste, so this time they tweaked the molded colors slightly and released it as an official standard release.
The molded color is the same blue as the normal version, but the tone is richer and deeper, giving it a much better overall feel. The mustard-colored claws and blades have also been changed to a deep yellow, and the gray frame color has been changed to nearly black. Thanks to all this, the overall molded color scheme is much cleaner — it almost has the feel of a Bandai Gunpla kit.
Perhaps feeling a bit guilty about re-releasing a limited edition as a standard release with just a color variant, they unusually included two pre-painted pilot figures along with a pre-painted Zeke in both Core and Zoid form as a bonus — and yet they priced it the same as the limited edition. In other words, those extras are essentially thrown in for free.
Since it's essentially just a color variant kit, there isn't much to explain separately, but the significantly improved molded color quality and the inclusion of pre-painted figures do give it quite a bit of appeal. Being able to get the Attack Booster configuration in a standard release is also a notable plus.
That said, the paint quality on the included figures isn't great, so don't get your hopes up. ^^;
* When this kit was released in 2009, it was marked as a limited edition on the box art due to licensing restrictions at the time, but since it carries the unique number HMM No. 16, it has been classified as a standard release. In 2020, a non-Vang version of the HMM Blade Liger AB was re-released under HMM No. 16. Please note that the standard version differs from the Vang Ver. in molded colors and pilot figure lineup.
