Kotobukiya Zoid HMM

Gun Sniper Naomi Special

Kit Review

Straight build

The Gun Sniper Naomi Special has been released as a variation of the Gun Sniper.
The overall molded color has been changed to a reddish tone, giving it a heavier, more subdued look. The basic structure is identical to the original version, but since just swapping the molded color would've felt a bit lacking, a large Wild Weasel Unit has been added on top of that.

The Wild Weasel Unit is fitted with massive weapons on both sides — a 144mm pulse laser Gatling gun and a 180mm twin-barrel beam gun, one on each side. The Wild Weasel Unit itself is quite large and packed with fine detail, so the overall volume is a big step up from the original. While the original Gun Sniper has a small and slender feel to it, the Naomi Special with the Wild Weasel Unit attached looks much more bulked out.

The Kotobukiya Gun Sniper on its own was a compact, slender, and easy-to-build kit, but thanks to the Wild Weasel Unit, the parts volume has increased considerably and the overall parts count feels much larger. The finished model also has a much heavier, chunkier feel that really gives it a commanding presence. The heavy weapons do limit the poses you can pull off a little, but that's a fair trade for the sheer imposing bulk it brings.

It's a textbook variation that feels completely different from the original kit through molded color changes and added weapons alone — a solid, easy-to-recommend kit for anyone who likes their Zoids loaded up with heavy armaments. :-)
