Liger Zero Panzer

Kit Review

Straight build

The Liger Zero Panzer has been released as the third Liger Zero armor pack. It's a combined kit that integrates the body runners from the original Liger Zero kit with the runners from the separately released Panzer Unit kit, letting you build a complete Liger Zero Panzer all in one package.

First off, the molded colors and gimmick quality of the Panzer Unit itself are excellent, so assembly is fairly straightforward — but the thick armor does seem to restrict articulation quite a bit more. The shoulder armor in particular is so large that the range of motion for the neck and waist is noticeably narrower compared to the other Liger Zero armor packs. So pulling off dynamic poses has gotten a bit trickier, but...

The Panzer Unit comes loaded with an impressive missile hatch open gimmick — you can open all 20 hatches to expose a whopping 93 homing missile heads. On top of that, most of the missile heads feature color separation in white and red, so even a straight build delivers an incredibly striking full hatch open shot. So even if the articulation takes a bit of a hit, this thing has a more visually powerful presence than just about any other kit out there ^^

The Hybrid Cannon on the back also has a nice articulation gimmick — you can even use the stabilizer stands on the rear legs to recreate a siege mode firing scene. Personally, this is my favorite of the Liger Zero armor packs. Not only does it look great, but the armor feels more securely attached compared to the previous releases too.

If you've ever dreamed of a full hatch open display, this is a kit I'd highly recommend — the excellent color separation really brings that all-missiles-firing pose to life in spectacular fashion. Sure, the sheer part count means it's about as much work as building 2–3 MGs, and the price tag isn't cheap either, but it's a great kit that's well worth it :-)
