Liger Zero Panzer Unit

Kit Review

Straight build

The third entry in the ongoing Liger Zero armor variation lineup is the Liger Zero Panzer Unit. Just like the previous releases, the Panzer Unit is available separately, and a combo pack — the Liger Zero Panzer — was also released at the same time. This kit contains only the Panzer Unit, so you'll need the Liger Zero kit sold separately.

First off, the overall color scheme has a military feel with an olive drab tone, and the two-tone molded colors came out quite clean and sharp. The biggest highlight of the Panzer Unit is definitely the impressive missile hatch-opening gimmicks all over the body — a whopping 20 missile hatches open in total. On top of that, the red parts for the missile heads inside are handled almost entirely through color separation, so even a straight build looks incredibly striking.

The overall edge molding is fairly sharp and the detail level is solid, making this a fun kit to build with excellent part fitment throughout. That said, there's a bit of an issue with the slide-out missile gimmick on the sides of both shoulder armors — the fit is a little awkward. Once you push them in, they don't want to come back out easily, and if you do manage to pull them out, they tend to pop all the way off. In short, they're stiff, and it would've been nicer if the mechanism had been designed to move a bit more smoothly.

All that aside, this is a highly distinctive weapons unit kit that really maximizes the playability of the Liger Zero — a great addition to the lineup. :-)
