Kotobukiya Zoid HMM

RZ-007 Shield Liger DCS-J

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Shield Liger DCS-J, released as the 46th entry in Kotobukiya's Zoids HMM series. In terms of composition, it uses the same parts as the HMM Shield Liger Mk-II released back in 2008, with only the molded colors changed. As a DCS-J exclusive bonus, four small jewel stickers for the beam cannon have been added.

So all the characteristics of the main body are identical to the previous release. The Shield Liger itself is well put together, so it doesn't really feel like an old kit — though being an early Kotobukiya release, the part molding is a bit rough and the gates are on the chunky side. That said, the elaborate parts separation and relatively solid joints make for an enjoyable build, though the sheer number of parts is still massive, so it's definitely a kit that demands a fair amount of work. Either way, it may just be a color variant, but the HMM Shield Liger still has plenty of charm to offer. :-)
