Kotobukiya Zoid HMM

Guysack

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the Guysack, released as No. 61 in Kotobukiya's Zoids HMM series. Like the Death Stinger, it's a scorpion-type Zoid, but considerably smaller. Small as it is, it's come out looking cute and charming while still being solidly built.

First off, the two front legs and six side legs have quite a wide range of motion, allowing for all kinds of natural poses. That said, with so many moving parts, getting everything positioned just right does take a fair bit of fiddling. The multi-jointed tail also moves through a wide range, and the joints are sturdy throughout, so whatever pose you put it in, it holds well. Compared to the Death Stinger, which was big and heavy and always felt a bit precarious to pose, this one is incomparably more stable.

There are no separate weapons included, but a few options are provided. The cockpit can be swapped to a normal type, the energy tank on the back can be replaced with a small-caliber beam cannon, and the tail's weapon unit can be swapped out for the Anti-Zoid 30mm Beam Rifle.

So while it's not exactly big or packed with content, this is a kit where the main body itself really shines with its solid quality and tight construction. If you're a fan of scorpion-type Zoids, this should be more than satisfying. :-)
