Gelgoog Cannon [ MSV Color]

Kit Review

Straight build

This kit is the MG Gelgoog Cannon [MSV Color] — a limited release from Bandai's online shop, Club G. It's essentially based on the Gelgoog 2.0, with the cannon pack from the 1.0 added in, and the molded color changed to a light blue and gray. On top of that, new joint parts have been added to connect the Gelgoog 2.0 arms with the 1.0 forearm armor, and the head armor pieces are made up of newly tooled parts as well.

The new molded colors aren't something you'd normally see on a Gelgoog, so it does give the kit a pretty different feel. That said, slapping bright colors onto that big, beefy frame feels a little off to me. The Gelgoog just seems to suit heavier, darker colors — or Char's pink, of course. And since I skipped the panel lining and decals, it ends up looking a bit bare -_-

Since the Gelgoog 2.0 is already a pretty high-quality kit to begin with, the build process and parts layout are still satisfying. The articulation is a bit limited by the design, but the excellent inner frame and surprisingly sturdy joints for its size make it a really enjoyable kit to handle.

It's a meaningful kit in that it's a proper Gelgoog Cannon based on the 2.0, but honestly, it would've been just fine released in a normal color scheme — it's a limited edition that ends up looking just a little plain. :-)
