MG MS-06K

Zaku Cannon [Unicorn Color Ver.]

Kit Review

Straight build

The MG Zaku Cannon Unicorn Color Ver. was released as a Club G exclusive, and just like the Uma Lightning/Johnny Ridden Zaku exclusives, it comes with a hefty amount of leftover parts due to the changed color combination.

Basically, the molded colors have been shifted to lower-saturation tones, with the forearms, pipes, and foot soles changed to darker shades. As you can see, there's nothing new here at all — it's a straight-up color variant exclusive. That said, the more subdued and muted color scheme does give off a military vibe, and compared to the original colors, it actually feels a bit more like a "weapon" in a way.

Since it's based on the excellent Zaku 2.0, the quality is naturally outstanding — and the different gimmicks compared to a standard Zaku give it a fresh feel for anyone who's gotten tired of building the Zaku 2.0. In particular, the power pipes, which come in the classic bead-stringing style rather than a one-piece molded form that looks revolutionary but is actually a pain to assemble, somehow feel refreshingly new. ^^;

True to its masterpiece lineup status, the build experience and hands-on feel are top-notch, and for those looking for a more military-flavored Gunpla, this seems like a pretty fun exclusive to get into. :-)
