1. Basic Photo
Wow.. despite the huge backpack, it stands up pretty straight without any trouble.

Even with the weight shifted rearward.. it holds firm, just as you'd expect from an MG.

The base body on its own. Proportions are very MG-worthy.
The backpack and GN Drive section
Remove the GN Drive and you're left with a big hole..
The round sections on the arm and leg joints are done in clear green, just like the MG Exia.
You can also swap the shoulder GN Drive out for a GN Condenser.
MG 00 Raiser
The detail is impressively fine and precise, as you'd expect from MG grade.
Underside
The landing gear can be swapped out with a cover piece.
At this point, plug the GN Sword III connector into the underside of the 00 Raiser,
then open the GN Sword III's locking pin..
And like this, you can attach the GN Sword III to the underside of the 00 Raiser.
You can also attach another set of landing gear to the underside of the GN Sword III.

Shoulder forward/backward and up/down articulation gimmick
Oh nice. A natural squatting pose as always.
The 00 Gundam's signature "this is broken!!" ankle articulation gimmick is well reproduced here too.
A good portion of the 00 Raiser's outer armor can also be removed.

The underside of the main body has no frame structure — only the top does.

Due to the structure, you can't attach the binder frame as well...

Some panels have it on the inside, some don't.. it's all over the place;
3. Equipment
The articulation structure of the included GN Sword III is the same as in other grades.
Like the PG 00 Gundam, you can attach a large soft-plastic beam effect part.
The GN Shield cover is removable and repositionable, and the blade section slides —
same as in other grades.

Of course you can also combine two of them together.
A connector part for joining both ends of the GN Sword II is also included.
To mount the GN Sword II on the side skirt, you have to detach a small cover on the side skirt and reposition it..
At MG grade they could've easily done this with a slide mold, so it's a bit of a letdown.
The MG Qan[T] did it the same detachable way, and now the MG 00 Raiser too..
Once you actually handle it, it gets pretty annoying;
On the plus side, the GN Sword II does lock in very securely. Hmm.
Two sets of hands are included —
articulated hands and fixed hands.
The fixed hands are designed to have two different finger parts plugged in..
but the palm peg seems to do its job well enough, so the articulated hands appear to work just fine on their own.
Dedicated adapters for connecting to the Action Base are also included —
two types, one for the base body and one for the 00 Raiser.
There are two 1/100 figures with stands included.
One is for the base body, the other for the 00 Raiser..
Cockpit hatch open on both the base body and the 00 Raiser.
If you look at the GN Drive connector area, there's a locking pin —
it's there to fix the angle of the GN Drive mount.
As shown on the upper right, if you raise the GN Drive mount upward and push the locking pin in,
it stays locked at that angle without drooping down.
When the 00 Raiser binders are attached, their weight causes the GN Drive mount to sag downward —
this gimmick is there to prevent that.
It's actually an incredibly useful feature, and I really like it^^
To secure the 00 Raiser body to the backpack,
you need to slide open the armor panel in the center of the backpack to expose the mounting hole.
If you remove the inner mount on the 00 Raiser binder, you can retrieve
a round connector part stored inside..
You attach it to the inside of the binder like this, then mount it onto the GN Drive mount on the base body.
Storing a separate connector pin inside the kit and pulling it out when needed is a bit of an unusual approach for an MG;;
Two clear parts for the 00 Raiser nose section are included — clear orange and smoke clear.
There's also a gimmick where the outer side of the 00 Raiser binder opens up.
This is related to exposing the LED unit in the future.

4. LED Units
This kit only comes with one LED unit.
But as you build it.. you'll realize you actually need five in total -_-;
So I ended up tracking down extra LED units from various places.
It seems like they're sold separately in Japan, but they're not officially imported here in Korea, so they're a bit tricky to get a hold of.
(Please don't ask me where to get them ;;
I already get dozens of emails a day asking where to find limited editions and stuff like that.. I simply can't reply to them all.)
First off, the LED-related areas let you choose between an opaque sticker or a clear seal.
Basically, if you're not using the LED unit, go with the glossy sticker, and if you are using the LED, use the thin light-transmitting seal.
First, pop open the back cover and insert one LED unit horizontally —
it feeds light up to the head through the clear parts in the neck area.
The two LED units for the GN Drive side have a similar structure to before.
Upper body with the LEDs on.
Light leaks out from the GN Drives on both shoulders and from the eyes, sides, and back of the head.
The GN Drive side is nice and bright, but the head is a bit dim — probably because the light source is farther away..
This kit includes GN Condensers in addition to the GN Drives,
and the condensers can use LED units as well.

As you can see, only a thin sliver of light comes through.

On top of that, two more LED units go inside each of the 00 Raiser's binders.
When you open up the 00 Raiser's external gimmick panels, the LED light source inside looks really cool..
but once it's actually attached to the kit, the angle makes it hard to see, so it feels a bit like a wasted feature.. -.-
5. Action
Excellent articulation.
Though due to the outer armor design, it doesn't fold all the way in for a fully tucked pose..

As expected! The insanely flexible ankles that 00 Gundam is known for are well reproduced here.
They fold up way more than the MG Qan[T]'s~
The forward/backward range of motion on the shoulders seems quite a bit narrower compared to the frame-only state.
The waist and shoulder armor move flexibly,
so the arms can be raised to a pretty natural angle.
A kneeling pose comes off very natu~rally.

The GN Condenser's light is indeed a bit weak.

6. Comparison
Together with the 1/100 00 Raiser Designer's Colors version.
The 1/100 GN Sword III was only included with that version.
Comparison with the 1/100 00 Gundam body.
The 1/100 00 turned out so well that they look somewhat similar at first glance..
but look closely and you can see the MG is a bit taller, has more refined proportions, and finer detail.
From the side.. the leg length and proportions are actually quite different.

The 1/100 00 really did turn out well;;

Interestingly, the 1/100 had movable tail fins, but the MG actually has them fixed.
