The MG Trans-Am Raiser was released as a Bandai Hobby Shop online exclusive. The earlier MG Exia Trans-Am Mode was sold widely as a special edition, but the Trans-Am Raiser ended up coming out as a straight-up limited release.

First off, the basic molded colors, material feel, and overall composition are all the same concept as the earlier MG Exia Trans-Am Mode. Since it's gloss injection, the shine looks great, but the material is hard and makes cleaning up gates a pain — same deal as before. The decals and seals are also all newly printed specifically for Trans-Am Mode.

This kit also includes 1 LED unit just like the original 00 Raiser kit, but fitting for Trans-Am Mode, it comes with a red LED instead of green. Since you originally need 5 LEDs, the included count was always a bit awkward — in the end, I used 2 boxes of the separately sold Trans-Am LED sets (2 LEDs per box) from Bandai to cover the remaining 4.^^; That said, even with all 5 LEDs, the visual effect feels a little underwhelming for the effort, which is a bit of a shame.

And since this is essentially just the MG 00 Raiser with the molded colors swapped out, there's nothing dramatically new — but thanks to the gloss injection, the joints are noticeably stiffer, which is actually a welcome change.^^; The heavy backpack made it tricky to stand upright stably before, but the Trans-Am Raiser holds its poses a bit more solidly now.

Anyway, since the original kit was already a pretty solid release in its own right, this is a kit you can build up quite nicely and come away satisfied — though with so many parts, it can get a little exhausting. Still, if you're a fan of 00 and love the unique coloring of Trans-Am Mode, this is a great item worth hunting down even if it's a bit hard to find. :-)
