Following the MG Aile Strike Ver.RM, Bandai has now released the MG Strike Rouge using the new-version Strike body. What's interesting is that it comes with the Ootori pack instead of the usual Aile pack — and as you can see in the photos, it's a spectacular weapon pack loaded with four wings and a whole bunch of large weapons.
Since the body itself only differs in molded color, all the characteristics are identical to the existing RM version Strike — excellent articulation, solid joint strength, clean parts separation, and a full inner frame that shows off everything you'd expect from a top-tier MG. The pink molded color is a bit brighter than the old MG Strike Rouge, while the body color has gotten darker, giving it a higher-contrast look overall.
The newly added Ootori pack marks its first-ever plastic model release, and like the I.W.S.P., it's a flight unit that spreads four wings out in an X shape. On top of that, a rail gun and beam launcher have been added to the underside, and the weapon mounting rack on top carries a large anti-ship sword and missile launcher — making it a comprehensive all-in-one weapons platform that looks absolutely spectacular. The parts assembly is complex, but the fine color separation is done meticulously throughout, and the yellow stripe sections are well reproduced with stickers too. In terms of sheer style, this is hands-down the most impressive-looking weapon pack of all the Strike variants.
The Ootori has plenty of moving parts, but the joints are solid throughout, so it holds its position firmly no matter how you display it. In standing mode, the large anti-ship sword acts as a support stand, so there's no hassle keeping it upright at all. The simple display stand that came with the MG Wing series is also included, making it easy to set up aerial action poses. Most of all, the rock-solid stability in any pose is something I personally really appreciate..
It's great that despite combining the already stellar 110-point MG Strike RM with an even more impressive weapon pack, the price is the same as the Aile Strike. The Ootori looks so good and works so well that I bumped the score up one more point to 111 — this kit truly shows flawless quality in every single aspect. If you're a SEED fan, I'd strongly encourage you to build this amazing Ootori pack at least once, and it's a kit I'd highly recommend to any Gunpla fan looking to experience the latest top-tier MG. :-)
