Kit Review
Straight build + Panel lining + Decals
The extension / angle adjustment / top mount all have stoppers,
so the holding strength is a big improvement over the old Action Base 1.

A new concept MG kit has been released as a special entry — under the name Dramatic Combination: MG & Figure-rise Bust, it bundles together the MG Freedom Gundam 2.0 and the Figure-rise Bust Kira Yamato. And as a bonus, a new-style Action Base is included as well.
Price-wise, it comes in at ¥5,700 — which is just the combined retail price of the MG Freedom 2.0 (¥4,500) and the Figure-rise Bust Kira Yamato (¥1,200). So the new Action Base is essentially a freebie, though in exchange, the simple Wing Gundam display stand that used to come with the MG Freedom Gundam 2.0 has been dropped.
Opening the box, the runners are identical to the separately sold kits — no changes to molded colors, no extra stickers or seals. It's a straightforward bundle. The manual, at least, has been reorganized into a combined format, covering assembly of the MG Freedom 2.0, Kira Yamato, and the new Action Base all in one go. (See the manual scans in the Info section.) Since this is a simple bundle kit, for a detailed breakdown of each kit please refer to the MG Freedom Gundam v2.0 reviewand the Figure-rise Bust Kira Yamato reviewfor reference.
In the end, since the contents are no different from the individual releases, the main selling point here is the bundled new-style Action Base. It's a noticeably improved version with stoppers at all three points — the mount angle, the length extension, and the angle adjustment joint. The angle adjustment section in particular uses a slide-lock connection, so unlike the old Action Base 1, it won't fall apart mid-pose while you're adjusting the angle.
This is the same stand that came bundled with the MG Fenice Rinascita back in the day, and it was also included in the first-run limited edition of the 1/100 Full Mechanics Gundam Barbatos Lupus. Still, since it's not easy to get hold of separately, it's a pretty sought-after stand in its own right — and I imagine there are folks out there who'd pick up this bundle just for that.
Anyway, it's a kit that makes you wonder why it even exists, but for anyone who hasn't built the MG Freedom Gundam 2.0 yet, it's actually a pretty solid bundle. That said, if you already own the individual kits, the value proposition drops quite a bit — though if you really want that new Action Base, it might still be worth a think. :-)
