MG ZGMF-X13A

Providence Gundam Premium Edition

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Decals

This kit is the MG Providence Gundam Premium Edition, released alongside the standard MG Providence Gundam. The "Premium" label doesn't mean the main kit itself is any different — it's essentially the same kit with the plain stand runners swapped out for a dedicated action base.

Since the main kit is 100% identical to the standard release, please refer to the MG Providence Gundam reviewfor detailed info on the kit itself. In this review, you really just need to check out the added stand and the waterslide decals.

The action base included with this kit is the newer type that's been coming out recently — it has locking pins for both height and angle adjustment, and uses a slide mechanism for a more solid hold. The pillar is molded in smoky clear, and the base is done in metallic molding featuring a SEED emblem design, so it definitely has a special feel to it.

As a bonus, there's one large waterslide decal sheet included, compatible with 6 kits: MG Aile Strike RM ver., Freedom Gundam 2.0, Blitz Gundam, Aegis Gundam, Buster Gundam, and Duel Gundam Assault Shroud. (See theinfo page for details.) Oddly enough, there are no decals for the Providence Gundam itself, but the quality of the decals is solid, so for painters who are into the MG SEED series, this could be a pretty interesting little bonus.

Price-wise, it comes in at ¥7,000 — ¥2,000 more than the standard edition's ¥5,000. Since a regular action base runs about ¥550, that effectively makes the waterslide decal sheet worth around ¥1,450, which does feel a bit steep.

Bottom line: if you're not particularly interested in waterslide decals for MG SEED kits, this is a special edition with pretty poor value for money. Unless you're absolutely dying to get your hands on the new action base (which isn't sold separately), this is a tough one to recommend. :-)
