Following the Ground Type, it was only natural~ that the Ez8 got the MG treatment too.
Based on the Ground Type with a few extra armor pieces added, the Ez-8 is essentially a platoon leader's unit — and without the head antenna, it actually feels more like a GM than a Gundam.
It's quite a unique character in the Gundam lineup, both in terms of visual style and color scheme.
The head, front torso, shins, and shoulders are all new parts different from the Ground Type, and among the weapons, the Hyper Bazooka replaces the Ground Type's 180mm Cannon.
The arms, thighs, feet, backpack, and most of the other weapons are identical to the Ground Type — just with different molded colors.
Since it uses the same basic internal skeleton, for details on weapon features and frame shots, please refer to the MG Ground Type Gundam reviewfor reference. As a result, the articulation, joint strength, and structural characteristics are all the same as the Ground Type — just think of it as a kit with a noticeably different look.
Just like the Ground Type, the one-piece outer shell parts on the arms and legs are still a major strength here — seam lines are barely visible anywhere on this kit. The slightly greenish ivory and blue molded colors may be a matter of personal taste, but they're faithful to the source material, and naturally the color separation is perfect from head to toe.
The articulation and joint strength are about the same as the Ground Type — and unfortunately, the wrists popping out too easily is also the same issue;;
The upper torso hatch opening on the Ez8 is quite different from the Ground Type — not just the cockpit, but the entire chest opens up. As a result, a mechanical frame has been added inside the chest, which means the Ez8 has exactly 10 more parts than the Ground Type.
The Ground Type was already generously packed, but the Ez8 is even more so ^^ Goood~
The Hyper Bazooka included for the Ez8 also splits into 5 pieces and fits securely in the container — it locks in nice and tight when stored.
The existing machine gun, beam rifle, beam saber, and other weapons are all still included, so it boasts a really impressive weapons loadout.
While it is a variation kit of the Ground Type Gundam, the kit itself has quite a different feel, and in fact about 40% of the parts have been changed.
It's a fantastic kit that carries on the high-quality Ground Type series lineage — if you like the look of it, you won't regret picking it up.
If possible, building it alongside the Ground Type would make it even better, right? ^^
