The Qubeley Mk-II — a variation kit that everyone saw coming — has finally been released. It took two and a half years to come out as a variation, which is a bit longer than I expected. ^^; Between the blue and red units, the red one piloted by Ple Two (that's the pilot's name, not PlayStation 2~ ^^) got kitted up first.
In terms of lore, the Qubeley and Qubeley Mk-II are basically identical in appearance with only the color being different, so just like with the HGUC, I figured it would be a straightforward variation kit... but actually building it, it feels very different from the previous Qubeley. Sure, the structure itself, the inner and outer armor, and the articulation are all exactly the same as the original Qubeley, but... the moment you open the box, you can't help but be surprised. And that's all because of the absurdly glossy molded surface finish!
The color is super deep and rich, and on top of that the surface has a gloss finish, so even in a straight build it has a pretty impressive shine. The previously released MG Gryps II also had a similar kind of glossy black molded color, but the Qubeley Mk-II is much larger and the color is so intense that the gloss really hits you even harder. On the other hand, the yellow parts have this peculiar mustard-ish yellow tone — it might look a bit cheap in photos, but in person it's actually quite nice molded color. I was worried that the runner gate marks would show up badly given how glossy the red parts are, but after cleaning them up, it turns out the material isn't the type that leaves obvious white stress marks. Thankfully, once it's on display, the gloss tends to hide the gate marks pretty well. What a relief~
There are a few differences from the original MG Qubeley — a Ple Two pilot figure is included, along with some really fun-looking decals to go with it. (No seals included.) The decals are large and bold-looking, which makes them quite pretty. There's also an additional triple-stand beam saber part for the Mk-II, and the soft beam saber part itself has been changed as well. So you're getting three additions: 1. decals, 2. a figure, and 3. beam saber parts — plus a gloss surface finish on top of all that — and yet the price stays at ¥4,000That's quite something! Since it shares the same mold as the original, maybe they felt a little guilty about it — either way, this is a pretty generous deal. ^^
Anyway, this Qubeley Mk-II feels like it goes well beyond just being a variation kit — it's something genuinely special. It's completely different from those plated versions made purely for the glossy look; this is the real deal, and it pulls off that feel several times over. That said, on the flip side... if the Mk-II gets a Ple Two figure, it does make me wonder why the original MG Qubeley never came with a figure of the fan-favorite Haman-sama. A pointless little gripe, I know. ^^;
In terms of straight build quality alone, this might just be the best kit in the entire MG lineup! The photos don't quite do the gloss justice, but the stunning shine and sheer imposing presence of that massive frame in person is truly something else~

| Seam Lines | ★★★★★ | Can't. See. Them. An almost perfect seam line hiding technique. |
| Molding Color / Color Separation | ★★★★★ | Perfect color separation. An absolutely outstanding molded state! (Bonus ★ for this one!) |
| Proportions | ★★★★★ | The devilish charisma of that massive frame is well captured. |
| Articulation | ★★★★ | Arm and leg articulation is average, but the shoulder armor is very flexible. Great for action poses~ |
| Joint Strength | ★★★★☆ | The shoulder armor is stiff. The rest isn't loose either, but the upper body is so large it's a bit of a concern.. |

| Detail | ★★★★★ | Finely detailed in every little nook and cranny. |
| Weapons / Accessories | ★★★★☆ | The added Mk-II beam saber, Ple Two figure, and large-format decals! |
| Parts Count / Price | ★★★★ | 287 parts total. Parts per ¥1,000: 71.8. More parts than before ^^ |
| Uniqueness | ★★★★★ | Despite being a variation, it feels like a completely different kit. The stunning gloss finish is genuinely moving! |
