~ Size Comparison ~
I remember back when the MG Zeong came out, I looked at the bottom vernier structure and chuckled to myself thinking, "if you just slapped a big leg on there, you'd have a Perfect Zeong." And when the MG Perfect Gundam came out, I thought, "surely they won't go as far as a Perfect Zeong..." — but lo and behold, those crazy guys at Bandai went and actually made this monstrous Perfect Zeong. -_-;
The Perfect Zeong is a mobile suit that appears alongside the Perfect Gundam in a manga called "Plamo Kyoshiro." It's based on the idea that the original Zeong launched before its legs could be completed, so legs were added to it in a plausible way. The thing is, its in-setting height is a whopping 36 meters. Since it appears as a plastic model within the manga, the in-universe height may not mean much — but either way, it turned out to be a tremendously sized kit in 1/100 scale.
The Zeong itself is undeniably a high-profile mobile suit as Char's machine that closes out the First Gundam story, and it's certainly popular among the more hardcore fans. Since all they needed to do was newly design the leg section to complete the Perfect Zeong, it probably wasn't too much of a development burden — but the problem is that the resulting price hike pushed it past the 10,000 yen mark. (Ugh~)
Since the MG Zeong itself was already a pretty high-quality kit, the Perfect Zeong is likewise built as a top-tier MG. The upper body structure is identical to the MG Zeong, with the double waist joint, head articulation, head/arm-pulling gimmick, and skirt vernier articulation all carried over. (See the MG Zeong review.) On top of that, here's what was added or changed for the Perfect Zeong:
- Addition of legs, along with the corresponding change to the leg connection joints at the bottom of the skirt.
- Addition of bicep armor on the arms, along with partial changes to the bicep frame.
- Addition of a sword holster on the side of the waist, along with corresponding changes to the waist part structure.
- Overall molded color changes, with some color combinations also changed (ear parts, side waist parts).
- A gunmetal-plated sword added as a weapon, along with corresponding changes to the palm parts.
- The stand used when the arm-pulling gimmick is deployed has been made taller.
Writing it all out, it's actually quite a lot. ^^;
The biggest change is obviously the legs — the feet, which are the size of a computer mouse, and the leg armor, which is the size of your palm, are genuinely jaw-droppingly huge. The internal leg frame looks decent enough, but it's completely solid, so there's no cylinder gimmick or spring suspension like on a PG. Each leg alone is far bigger than most MGs, so the weight is considerable — but thankfully the polycaps in the joints are quite stiff, so there's no looseness at all.
Articulation is a bit lacking. The arms can't even bend 90 degrees because of the bicep armor, and the legs have a limited range of motion due to the skirt. The knees do fold quite a bit, but since the thighs don't move much it's not very useful.. The one thing that actually feels well-articulated is, as always, the individually jointed fingers. But then again, this isn't a kit that competes on articulation — it's all about the "physique." ^^; Even with just a little posing, it radiates an intimidating charisma. Rather than the articulation itself, the real strength of this kit is that all those tight, solid joints hold that massive frame together without any slop.
The added sword is incredibly long, though the detail is fairly plain. It has a gunmetal-type plating, so it's not as flashy and shiny as a silver chrome finish. When you sheathe the sword at the waist.. like with the Astray, it would look better and take up less space if it angled downward a bit — but the Perfect Zeong's sword just sits horizontally when sheathed, making it pretty much impossible to display in a cabinet with the sword on. Hmm.
Looking at all the comparison photos above, you're probably thinking "man, this thing is huge..." — but if you see it in person after only looking at photos, you'll be hit all over again by just how absurdly massive it is. Even though I thought it looked really big from the photos, the sheer physical presence of it after building was something else entirely... I was already shocked by the box, which is bigger than the PG Zeta box, then surprised again by the size as I built it, and then hit with it one more time when it was finished. If HGUC has Den-chan, then MG has the Perfect Zeong — that's the only way I can put it.
As the most expensive MG at 10,000 yen, this is a landmark kit in its own right that has stunned a lot of people with its size, which easily surpasses a PG. It's not just tall — the weight is no joke either.. Honestly, I didn't have particularly high expectations before it came out, but once I actually built it, I was completely won over by that enormous frame. It's a kit that really got me. ^^
No PG out there can match the charisma that the Perfect Zeong delivers through its sheer size and presence..
If you love big, imposing kits, this one is a guaranteed 200% satisfaction — and if you're a Perfect Zeong fan, it's simply the best gift you could ask for. That said, for everyone else, the price is a serious barrier, and if you're not particularly drawn to sheer bulk, you might be better off putting a little more money toward a PG instead.
Either way, the bottom line is that this is a very high-quality kit... and its physical charisma is simply unmatched..!
The biggest issue is probably the steep price..

| Category | Rating | Analysis |
| Seam Lines | ★★★★ | Not many seam lines on the exterior, but there are quite a few spots where gate marks are visible. |
| Molding Color / Color Separation | ★★★★★ | The molded color is a bit drab, but faithful to the source material. Color separation is perfect. |
| Proportions | ★★★★★ | One vote for the size that surpasses even PG! Looks even bigger in person. |
| Articulation | ★★★☆ | Not like a beast this size really needs amazing articulation.. Full-joint fingers are a nice touch~ |
| Joint Strength | ★★★★★ | Those stiff legs do a great job supporting that massive frame upright. Better than PG. |
| Internal Frame | ★★★★☆ | Frame only in the torso, shoulders, calves, and backpack. |
| Detail | ★★★★★ | Very good. Plenty of detail where it counts. |
| Weapons / Accessories | ★★★ | The only accessory is basically a giant sword.. This kit lives and dies by the main body itself. |
| Parts Count / Price | ★★★ | 480 parts total. Parts per ¥1,000: 48. Understandable, but the price is still pretty steep;; |
| Uniqueness | ★★★★☆ | The sheer fact that it's an unprecedented mega-sized kit is significant in itself. More satisfying than expected. |
