Strike Rouge ~ Clear Color version

Kit Review

Straight build

Out of nowhere, for whatever reason, a clear color version of the MG Strike Rouge has been released as an Asia-limited edition. The kit itself is a typical clear color version — the outer armor parts have been made into clear parts while keeping the original molded colors. The inner frame is done in a slightly metallic molded color.

The MG Strike's outer armor has pretty detailed molds on the inside, so in the clear version those inner molds show right through, giving it quite a busy, intricate look. Unlike the smooth armor surface, that kind of complex, see-through blueprint feel is one of the unique charms of a clear version. That said, the inner frame color is so dark that, despite being a clear version, it doesn't actually look as bright as you might expect. Because the pitch-black metallic inner frame is so visible, the overall color ends up looking a bit murky somehow.

As is typical with clear/plated versions, the joints are stiffer overall compared to the normal version, which is great for holding poses — but trimming the gates on the hard clear parts is a bit of a pain. Just be careful not to slip and cut yourself when applying force with the gate cutter.

Just as the original MG Strike Rouge was popular for its pink color scheme, this Rouge clear version also has a really unique feel thanks to its distinctive pink clear parts. That's probably exactly why they chose to do the Rouge version in clear rather than the standard Strike Gundam — the deep pink, light pink, and magenta clear parts give it quite a feminine vibe.

Since this is a limited edition that was released in large quantities all at once rather than being an event exclusive, the price is pretty reasonable, and the kit itself is solid quality — so it's definitely worth recommending to anyone looking for something a little different. :-)
