Gundam ver.O.Y.W. : Titanium Finish Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

This is the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 Titanium Finish Ver., released alongside the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 chrome plating version as Club MG limited editions. Two limited editions of the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 dropping at the same time — looks like Bandai really loves the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079. ^^

First off, the quality is pretty much on par with the existing Titanium Finish versions. But because the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 has so many panel lines by nature, there aren't enough flat surfaces, so that smooth marble-like feel is a bit lacking. The greatest appeal of the Titanium Finish is that deep, lustrous reflected light.. and in that regard, it's a bit of a mismatch with the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079. If we're just talking about the marble effect, the First 2.0 Titanium Finish version with its simplest exterior seems to pull it off the best.

The MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 was already a kit with solid joint strength, but with the Titanium Finish applied, everything feels a bit tighter overall.. though not to the point where it's uncomfortable to pose. Compared to the similarly coated chrome plating version, it is a little stiffer. The Titanium Finish coating does seem to be a bit thicker.

As is the case with the plated versions of the MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079, one nice bonus is that the coating thins out around the panel lines, creating an effect that looks like panel lining has already been applied. The Titanium Finish in particular has a white base color, so the automatic panel lining effect(?) from the contrast between light and shadow is even more pronounced.

Either way, the combination of the excellent MG Gundam Ver. O.Y.W. 0079 and top-tier titanium coating is fantastic. It's a limited edition that looks genuinely premium and well worth it :-)
