| This kit is the MG clear exterior parts version released to commemorate Gundam's 30th anniversary. It's essentially the same contents as the original kit, but with one extra clear runner added. In other words, it lets you choose between standard armor and clear armor for certain parts, so for the basic kit features please refer to the normal version review — this review only covers the added clear parts. |
◆ Coverage and Effect
Exactly the full arm armor on both sides has been made clear, and as you'd expect from a 2.0 kit, the clear parts are highly transparent and very clean. That said, there isn't much molded detail on the inside of the armor, so you won't get a ton of intricate detail to look at — but on the flip side, it does let you see the clean 2.0 frame inside quite nicely.
◆ Difficulty of Swapping
The armor attachment on the Zaku 2.0 is smooth yet secure, so swapping parts is pretty easy. Just keep in mind that due to the structure, you'll need to detach and reattach the large polycap that connects to the wrist, so be careful not to force it.
◆ Overall Impressions
Just like the Zaku 2.0's well-earned reputation for clean, high-quality construction, the clear parts are equally crisp and tidy. That said, it's a bit of a letdown that the clear treatment only applies to the arms — and since the leg version is covered by the Char's custom kit, it does feel a little bit like a calculated marketing move. ^^;
