MG RX-78GP01FB

Zephyranthes ~ Coating Version

Kit Review

Straight build

The 4th official MG coating version is the GP01Fb Full Burnern from 0083. It's already a kit with a decent amount of bulk to begin with, and the combination of a stable Extra Finish-style silver coating with a nicely glossy blue and red really works well. The photos came out a bit dull due to the glare and lighting, but in person it looks quite impressive. ^^

Thanks to the joints being a bit stiffer with the coating version, joint strength has improved significantly — but you still need to be careful around the waist. Due to the core block combination structure, if you pick up just the upper body to move it, the lower body tends to pop right off and drop. And since the lower body is even heavier on this kit, be extra careful.

The classic coating/clear version trait of "stiffer joints" applies here too, so the joints are nice and solid. That said, since this is an early MG with pretty limited articulation, action poses are just so-so... but this kit wins on its red color and glossy finish.

Gate marks are relatively hard to spot overall, and the normal version itself already did a good job of hiding the gate marks on the legs. The shield in particular is just stunning with its gloss and premium feel!

All in all, this feels like the most consistently well-made coating version among the Gundam-series coating kits. In terms of coating quality, overall harmony, color balance, and more, it's a step above the First and Zeta coating versions. :-)
