Zaku II v2.0 ~ MS Igloo2 Image Color Version

Kit Review

Straight build
+ panel lining + decals

This kit is the Zaku II J-type v2.0 from the limited edition set released to commemorate MS Igloo II: Gravity Front. Since it's basically just the normal version with different molded colors, the core features are the same as the normal release. Along with the new molded colors, the decals and seals have also been changed to the Igloo style.

The molded color is slightly darker and more subdued compared to the normal version. Comparing it to other green Zakus, it's closest to the Zaku II v1.0, but the molded color on this 2.0-based kit is far more refined. The upper and lower body parts are molded in olive drab, which really brings out that military feel. Just like how Gravity Front itself deals with ground combat, it seems like the colors were changed to aim for a ground-warfare military look.

Ideally it should have some messy weathering to really nail that Gravity Front atmosphere, but.. I didn't have the time or energy for all that, so I just went ahead and did panel lining with a brown panel liner pen. (^^;) Even without weathering, the brown panel lines actually feel like a pretty good match for a Gravity Front kit.. (Dirt caked into the panel lines... Red Sun!)

The quality of the kit itself goes without saying — if you're after that Igloo decal look combined with a rich, weighty military-style molded color, this is definitely a fun build. The Zaku 2.0 is always a thrill to put together, no matter when you build it.. :-)
