Three Doms living under one roof~
This kit is one of the MS Igloo II Gravity Front limited editions,
taking the existing MG Dom and changing the molded colors with Igloo decals added.
A similar concept was released as a One Year War limited edition in the past, but the
colors are quite different.
As you can see in the comparison photos with the normal version above, it somehow gives off more of a classic Dom color vibe compared to the eye-popping primary colors of the normal version.
I always thought the normal version's colors came out a bit too gaudy,
and the One Year War limited edition went too far the other way with overly bright pastel tones that felt a bit off.
Looking at the colors alone, the Igloo version Dom actually feels like it has the most
"Dom-like" color scheme of the bunch.
Anyway, aside from the molded colors feeling a bit more convincing and
the addition of some Igloo-version decals, it's essentially the same as the normal version,
so there's not much else to talk about. Ideally it should be all dirty and weathered to match the Igloo vibe,
but there was no helping it — the review went ahead in fresh-off-the-shelf mode (???) with just some yellowish panel lining. ^^;
Back in the day, the MG Dom was considered quite a gem.. but looking at it now,
the fixed skirt and the super limited leg articulation are hard to ignore.. T_T
Part of it is unavoidable given how huge the feet are by design, but if a new version were released today,
the skirt and various other areas would probably see some improvements.
The MS Igloo II Gravity Front limited MGs played the somewhat uninspiring card of just changing molded colors + decals,
but they're all solid suits with solid build quality..
so if you like the colors, they're well worth picking up without any hesitation. :-)
