Kit Review
Straight build
First off, this kit features what is arguably the greatest virtue of any plated kit —
under gates— which means gate marks are barely visible.
Action poses~ No commentary needed, just sit back and enjoy..

Alongside the MG Hyper Mode God Gundam, the Hyper Mode Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode has also been released. Structurally, you can still just refer to the MG Master Gundam reviewas it's essentially a straight plated kit with no structural changes.. but as you can see in the photos.. the shine is absolutely no joke ㅡoㅡ;
Bottom line, without beating around the bush — this kit can be called the best plated kit Bandai has ever produced. The coating surface quality is exceptional, the reflected light and brilliance are stunning, and the two-tone gold color combination is fantastic. Unlike the typical flat yellow gold plating, the interplay between a slightly deeper gold and a darker, almost burnished golden hue is really something special.
Plenty of event-exclusive limited plated kits have decent coating quality, but this Hyper Mode Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode sits at the very top of that tier — and crucially, it even comes with "under gates" under gates. This strongly suggests that when the original MG Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode was being developed, a plated version was already being planned from the start. In fact, when I built the original MG Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode back then, I noticed the runners had under gates even though it wasn't a plated kit — which was a dead giveaway that a Hyper Mode gold plated version was coming ^^;
(For reference, the original non-plated MG Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode also had under gates on the outer armor panels from the very beginning.)
The key reason I'd call this the best plated kit is that it delivers something beyond just a simple molded color swap. Unlike limited plated releases that just slap a glossy coat over existing colors, this gold Hyper Mode Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode is a design that actually exists in the original setting. Drawing from that lore and the anime, the sophisticated two-tone gold plating combination conveys a fully "complete" image. It's not just shiny for the sake of being shiny — it's a kit that's genuinely harmonious as a whole. That design-level consideration, combined with under gates and top-tier coating quality, is exactly why it earns the title of best plated kit. ^^
Among all four G Gundam MGs, Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode is widely regarded as the highest quality kit of the bunch. The best parts breakdown, well-executed articulation gimmicks, great volume, charisma, dynamic action poses, and the most generous accessory loadout of the four... and now topped off with the finest plating of any of them — this is truly a kit that just oozes cool from every angle.
The Hyper Mode God Gundam released alongside it is a decent kit too, but compared to this Hyper Mode Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode, the quality gap is pretty noticeable. My guess is that when the MG God Gundam was being developed, a gold plated version wasn't on the radar yet so under gates were skipped — and then by the time MG Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode was in development, they scrambled to add under gates with the gold plating in mind. So even though both are Hyper Mode gold plated kits, God Gundam ended up without under gates while Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode got them.
Beyond just the under gate aspect, as you can see in the photos, the coating color and overall quality on the Hyper Mode Master Gundam ~ Hyper Mode is noticeably better than the Hyper Mode God Gundam, which makes the comparison even more stark. That said, they are kind of a couple kit (?) so displaying both together multiplies the presence several times over.
Incredible shine, solid joints, a well-matched two-tone plating color combo, and top-tier overall quality — the ¥5000 price tag is admittedly a bit steep, but this kit is absolutely worth every yen.
In terms of satisfaction you can get from a simple straight build alone, this kit is in a league of its own!
