This isn't the official plated version of the MG RX-78 v1.0 released back in '98 — this is the RX-78 v1.5 plated limited edition sold exclusively at the Bandai Museum.
As you probably know, the v1.5 base kit was already a clear step up from the v1.0 to begin with. The arms are pretty much carried over from the v1.0, which is a downside, but everything else — the solid-frame legs, body, head, and weapons — was all upgraded in the v1.5. And it's not just the base kit quality that improved; the plating quality is also a significant step up from the v1.0.
Similar to the GP03 Stamen plated version, the inner frame is fully plated in a metallic finish. Unlike the GP03, where the inner frame plating made the joints way too stiff, the v1.5 plated version thankfully has joints that move with just the right amount of resistance. The exterior plating quality is also top-notch — evenly and cleanly applied with no blotching or bleeding.
All in all, this is the "proper" plated version of the First Gundam — the ultimate protagonist of the entire Gundam franchise. With its base kit quality, plating quality, perfectly solid joints, plated frame, and a generous weapons loadout, this is a high-quality limited plated release that simply can't be compared to the v1.0 plated version. :-)
