RG RX-78GP01fb

Full Burnern

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Seals

This kit is the RG Full Burnern (Full Burn for short~), released as a pair with the RG Zephyranthes. Just like in the lore, it shares the same basic frame as the ground-use Zephyranthes, but with a different core fighter, shoulders, legs, and torso design — making it a space-use Gundam.

Since the RG Zephyranthes was already such a great kit, the Full Burnern naturally delivers excellent base quality as well. It's a kit packed with tight, secure joints that feel almost snug despite the small size, outstanding articulation, and all kinds of details and gimmicks that rival or even surpass MG kits. And just like the RG Zephyranthes, the number of seals has been drastically reduced — you can easily get them all on in under an hour~ ^^

First off, the large verniers that are the Full Burnern's trademark actually have inner frames inside them, and combined with the outer armor detail, they give a really intricate look. The core fighter transformation gimmick is reproduced the same way as the Zephyranthes, but since it's small yet carries a bit of weight, the upper body–core block–lower body connection feels a little less secure compared to the RG Zephyranthes.. In particular, the very top of the upper body tends to wobble and pop off when posing, which is a bit of a letdown.

In terms of gimmick reproduction, the shoulder vernier exposure gimmick is recreated as a slide mechanism, and the chest duct vernier launch function is also faithfully reproduced — you remove the vernier cover and push the vernier out from inside the core block. To make this work, the yellow center panel of the chest duct can be popped on and off, but the fit is loose so it tends to fall off easily, so watch out. It's exactly the kind of piece you'd accidentally drop and forget about. ;;

The rest of the standard weapons are completely identical to the RG Zephyranthes, so there's not much else to cover — though one small difference is that the solid ankle guard frame pieces end up as leftover parts, unlike with the Zephyranthes. And as a bonus, a 1/144 Kou Uraki figure is included, this time redesigned in casual clothes.

Anyway, this is clearly going to be a must-have item in the RG lineup alongside the Zephyranthes — it's just that good of a high-quality RG. In terms of looks and gimmicks, the Full Burnern edges out the Zephyranthes just a little. That said, the large shoulders and backpack do make the upper body–core block–lower body connection a bit weaker compared to the Zephyranthes, so things tend to pop apart, and poses can fall out of alignment pretty easily — which is a bit of a shame. In that sense, the RG Zephyranthes feels noticeably more solid overall in terms of stability.

Either way, both the RG Zephyranthes and the Full Burnern are top-tier kits — so if you're going to build one, I'd strongly recommend grabbing both as a pair. Neither one has a huge amount of seals, so the workload isn't too bad at all. :-)
