RG OZ-00MS

Tallgeese EW

Kit Review

Straight build + Panel lining + Seals

The Tallgeese EW version has been released as the 28th RG. It's a relatively minor suit compared to the Gundams in previous releases, but it clearly has enough of a fanbase to earn its own RG. The basic setup stays true to the RG concept, featuring a full-body frame with the new one-piece joint system and armor molded in three tones. Some of the armor parts even have gloss injection applied, giving them a nice premium shine.

The build experience is typical RG, though the parts count and overall construction feel a bit more manageable than usual. In terms of gimmicks, it actually surpasses the MG in some ways — the signature backpack verniers deploy spectacularly in all directions. That said, while pushing the pin in the center of the backpack downward is supposed to link everything open at once, the pin is in an awkward spot to apply pressure to, so it honestly feels easier to just open each cover by hand.

On top of that, all the skirts can be deployed as well — and with the front skirt, lifting it up triggers a linked mechanism that brings the lower verniers swinging down, which is a nice touch. The Dober Gun and shield on each shoulder are connected via multi-joint arms that rotate in multiple directions, making it easy to position them wherever you want without them getting in the way during posing.

With older Tallgeese EW kits, regardless of scale, the connection between the shoulder and the Dober Gun was always awkward and really got in the way of articulation — but this issue has been solved perfectly, as you'd expect from an RG. On top of that, unlike the old kits where the backpack verniers were attached behind the shoulders and caused all kinds of inconvenience, the RG connects the backpack verniers to the torso via a multi-joint arm (just like the MG), so you can position them freely without them getting in the way of arm movement. Really well thought out.

The basic limb articulation shows a top-tier range of motion, and overall the joint strength is solid with great balance, making this a kit that's easy to pose. Parts barely fall off during posing, and the multi-joint arm for the weapon holds its position well, so whatever pose you go for, it stays put. There's also a stand joint part that slides into the hip joint, so aerial poses are nice and stable too.

All in all, this is a top-quality RG that inspires confidence throughout — unlike some earlier releases, there are no joint strength or durability issues to worry about, so you can just enjoy building and displaying it with peace of mind. :-)
