This kit is the RG Evangelion Mark.06, the fifth release in the RG Eva series. It's the unit that caused quite a buzz just from its brief appearance in Evangelion: 2.0, and compared to previous Evangelion units, the chest, shoulders, and head design have all been changed up.

So all the structural features of the main body are the same as before — it's still a kit that delivers incredible articulation and impressive color separation. The joint strength that starts out fine but gets a little shaky with repeated posing is also unchanged. The newly designed sections are cleanly executed, and the head in particular features intricate system insert molding that's really satisfying to look at.

Accessories include the Spear of Cassius from the film and a halo above the head, but there are no other weapons included at all. The halo is molded as a clear PET sheet, and since it plugs into the stand hole on the back to stay in place, it holds its angle nice and firmly. Dedicated hands for gripping the Spear of Cassius are also included, so you can strike all kinds of poses without worrying about grip issues.

All in all, there are more new parts than I expected, which gives this kit a fresher feel than you might anticipate. If you enjoyed the Rebuild of Evangelion films, the RG Mark.06 should definitely be worth your while. :-)
