SD BB Senshi

RX-78 Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

BB Senshi No. 200 in the new lineup is none other than the legendary main character himself, the RX-78 Gundam. True to its status as the greatest hero in the Gundam universe, this one came out as a masterpiece that's on a completely different level from other SD kits.

First off, the proportions are much more refined compared to previous SD releases, the color separation is excellent, and the articulation is well-designed to allow for more dynamic poses. Firing poses like the beam rifle shot shown in the review photos above are something you just don't see in other SD kits. ^^

On top of that, it comes packed with accessories — the Core Fighter is included as standard, and Core Booster parts are thrown in as well. The real highlight is that even an internal frame open gimmick — something you'd never expect from an SD kit — has been recreated, and the frame detail itself is pretty clean too. The head and chest frames are done by removing and reattaching the armor, while the shoulders open up with a movable mechanism... though the shoulder armor being a little loose and wobbly is a minor gripe.

Standing right at the dividing line between old and new, this kit makes the quality gap between the two eras crystal clear. It's a standout SD kit that I'd recommend to any Gunpla fan out there. :-)
