There was already a Nu Gundam in the old G Generation line, but now it's been reborn as a new BB Senshi release. Nu Gundam really is a perennial fan favorite!
Compared to the small and cute old version, this one is bigger and more imposing while still capturing that classic SD feel — it's a real transformation. The color separation is pretty solid too, so you can get pretty close to the official colors with just a few seals. The fin funnels come out in plain white which leaves them looking a bit bare, but the detail on them is nice. The basic weapons — rifle, bazooka, shield and more — are all well covered. The one downside is that the hollow backs on the weapons are pretty noticeable, which is a bit of a shame. On the plus side though, the HWS weapon set is included as a bonus special option^^
All in all, you get a solid, faithful Nu Gundam base body, and while the HWS parts are a bit bare due to limited color separation, the detail is still good — as a new BB Senshi release, it definitely delivers the quality you'd expect.
Personally though, I can't help feeling like the head might be a little too small for an SD kit. The proportions look good, but the body ends up looking big relative to the head, which makes it feel just a little less cute. I'm guessing they designed it that way to accommodate the HWS armor.. hmm.
Along with the First Gundam, this is one of the most popular kits people reach for when getting into SD — and it's a great kit that gives you plenty of that SD fun. :-)
