The Perfect Gundam, which was previously released in a somewhat half-baked(?) form as part of the old G Generation line, has now gotten a new BB Senshi SD release. Just like with the MG, the Perfect base body needed to accommodate the Perfect armor has been completely redesigned — it's come out bigger and more imposing than the original base body. The molded color is also a brighter, more anime-style tone, so the new First base body alone makes this kit worth having.

The Perfect Gundam armor is reproduced fairly faithfully to the source material, and the color separation is pretty well done too, so even a straight straight build looks quite decent. On top of that, a unique head gear not found in the original design has been added as a BB Senshi Special bonus. Articulation is just so-so as you'd expect from a BB Senshi kit, but with all that armor hanging off it, even a simple pose carries a fair bit of impact.

The Perfect base body seems to have a wider range of motion than the existing BB Senshi First, probably thanks to its larger size. Weapons-wise you only get a single beam saber (there is a shield, but it can only be attached once the Perfect armor is on), so pulling off a wide variety of poses is tough — but as you can see in the photos above, it's actually pretty poseable for an SD. ^^

As a bonus with the BB Senshi Perfect Gundam, a G Carrier for the Gundam is also included. It normally takes the form of a carrier-type aircraft, but you can selectively attach either the First base body parts or the Perfect parts — or both. It's got a bit of a toy-like feel to it, but it's a fun extra option.

As one of the BB Senshi series kits that has been completely transformed beyond comparison with the old releases, this is a genuinely solid SD kit in its own right — it's just that Perfect Gundam itself isn't all that popular. :-)
