Kit Review

Following the Strike Gundam, the Astray Red Frame — one of the most popular mobile suits from the SEED lineup — has been released in the BB Senshi series. The overall concept of the kit is different from the classic Universal Century BB Senshi kits, sharing the same proportions and construction style as its predecessor, the Strike.
It sports a next-gen SD look with a big head and relatively slender limbs, and honestly the Astray pulls it off even better than the Strike did. The design is naturally full of panel lines all over the body, and the detailing on the arms and legs comes pretty close to the source material. The chest color separation also feels like they put in a decent amount of effort for an SD kit. ^^
Anyway, articulation isn't great — as you'd expect from an SD — but the proportions are so good that even slight poses look pretty cool. One thing that's a real shame though: the Astray's iconic oversized sword, the Gerbera Straight, is not included in this kit. I honestly can't figure out why they left it out. ㅡ,.ㅡ
If you're an Astray fan, this is obviously a must-have, and it's one of the better-looking SEED SD kits out there — so it's something I'd happily recommend to Gunpla fans in general too. A cute, solid little item. :-)
