SD BB Senshi

Force Impulse Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the SEED Season 1 SD Gundam lineup, the Force Impulse Gundam from SEED Destiny has now been released as a BB Senshi. The overall quality is a slight step up from the Strike Gundam series — for starters, the yellow head antenna that used to just be handled with a seal has now been properly color-separated, and a generous number of seals are included to cover areas where the molded colors don't match the design specs, making the color accuracy much better overall. (Should've done this from the start...)

As mentioned, compared to the Strike, quite a few areas like the shoulders, skirt, and shield have gotten additional seals, so even a straight straight build looks pretty decent. And as a bonus, the Core Block and Core Fighter are actually reproduced too. Sure, it's done through a disassemble-and-reassemble method, but it's still pretty cool to see this level of detail in an SD kit. ^^

The Force Impulse Gundam also comes with a dedicated stand, and a polycap for attaching the stand has been added between the hip joints. Going forward, all SEED Destiny-related kits will include this stand-mounting polycap, but the stand itself is only included with this kit, so the manual recommends reusing it with the other kits.

Clean color combination, slightly improved quality, sharp sculpting — this one ranks pretty high among BB Senshi kits. The only issue is really the popularity of the mobile suit itself. Either way, if you're a fan of the Impulse Gundam, this is a fun little item worth picking up. :-)
