Following the Exia, the SD 00 Gundam has now been released — and it seems like they were aware of how the SD Exia felt a little lacking, because this one comes with a slight upgrade in quality.
The elbows are still fixed just like before, but they've added a hip rotation gimmick to improve leg articulation, and the proportions are better than the SD Exia in terms of the shoulder-to-body ratio. Weapons include the GN Sword II and GN Shield, and the GN Sword II is nicely designed to recreate rifle mode, sword mode, and the combined form with both swords linked together. The GN Shields can also be attached to the arm and shoulder areas just as per the design specs.
The two GN Drives mounted on the shoulders — not the backpack — can rotate backward and open up, letting you pull off some really dynamic poses. And just like the SD SEED Destiny series, there's a hole in the hip joint, so you can borrow an Action Base 2-type stand and use it here too.
Overall, the improved proportions and articulation make this a pretty solid SD kit, though the legs still feel a bit stiff-looking.. Either way, it's a chunky, good-looking kit in its own right, so if you're a fan of SD or 00 Gundam, it's definitely worth building. :-)
