SD BB Senshi

Sinanju

Kit Review

Straight build

Following the BB Senshi Unicorn, the Sinanju — the biggest hit item in the Unicorn series — has now gotten the SD treatment. It's such a stylish mobile suit that I was really curious to see how it would turn out in SD form, and sure enough, Bandai put a lot of effort into this one. ^^

First off, along with its flashy design, the proportions are noticeably slimmer compared to previous SD kits. I already got a hint of this with the SD Unicorn, but you can really tell they were conscious of the competition from Kotobukiya's D-Style line. The head is proportionally smaller as a result, so it's a little less cute, but the overall style definitely feels more refined and premium. Sinanju really is the kind of mobile suit that looks great no matter what scale it comes in.

Sinanju's signature intricate markings are all neatly handled with seals, so even with just a straight build you can thankfully capture the feel of the original quite well. On top of that, a generous number of special seals are included to add accents all over the kit. The beam parts weapons and various gimmicks are faithfully reproduced to spec, so you can recreate a wide variety of scenes and poses that hold their own against the MG and HGUC versions.

There are three BB Senshi original configuration options: you can split the upper and lower body to transform into Falcon Mode and Wyvern Mode, and you can cleverly combine the shield and rifle to use as a giant spear or large crossbow. Overall it's a kit that really delivers on versatile weapon use — though one disappointment is that the limbs have a somewhat limited range of motion and the elbow joints are fixed. So despite the dedicated stand and wide array of weapons, the poses you can actually pull off feel a bit restricted...

That said, small as it is, Sinanju's signature flashy and three-dimensional design comes through brilliantly, the build feels satisfying, and the weapons are impressive — so I'm just glad it turned out as sharp as I'd hoped. It's a must-have for Unicorn and Sinanju fans, and it once again cements the legend that Sinanju is top-tier quality no matter what scale it comes in. Highly recommended SD kit! :-)
