SD BB Senshi

Wing Gundam : Endless Waltz Ver.

Kit Review

Straight build

After the Wing Zechs released way back in the early days of BB Senshi, the SD Wing series has finally made its return — a full 11 years later. The star of the show is the Ver.Ka-style Wing Gundam EW (Endless Waltz) version, and right off the bat it makes quite an impression with its box art that's far thicker and more gorgeous than your typical SD kit, a whole bunch of colorful runners, and a premium price tag of ¥800.

Open up the box and the first thing that catches your eye are two colorful system injection runners. This kind of setup is rare even on MG kits, which tells you just how much thought went into the color separation here — and as a bonus, a dedicated clear blue stand runner is also included. With this much attention paid to the parts layout, the build experience feels a bit different from other SD kits, and it's genuinely satisfying to put together.

Thanks to the high part count, this thing is bigger than your average SD and has a fairly sleek set of proportions to boot. It feels noticeably higher quality than the recent 00 SD series, and is more on par with the SD Unicorn series in terms of overall polish. It's clearly taking a cue from Kotobukiya's D-Style lineup — rather than going for the typical stubby and cute SD look, this kit leans more toward a stylish aesthetic.

In terms of what's included, you get the buster rifle, shield, and energy cartridge pod as accessories, along with transformation into Bird Mode and a giant sword function as part of the original BB Senshi setting. Unlike most recent SD kits, the elbows are articulated, which makes posing a bit easier — though the wing articulation range is narrower than you'd hope, which is a bit of a shame.

Overall, this is easily one of the best SD kits in Bandai's entire SD lineup — a real gem. Whether you're a fan of Wing Gundam or the Ver.Ka aesthetic, or you just love a small kit that looks great, this one comes highly recommended. :-)
