SD BB Senshi

Build Burning Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

The Build Burning Gundam from Build Fighters has now been released as a BB Senshi version. The contents are the same as a typical recent SD kit — the hollowing out on the back legs is pretty rough, but everything else comes out looking clean.

In the HG, Burning Mode was recreated by swapping out clear parts, but in the SD version it's done by swapping seals instead. Since peeling them off and reapplying them is a bit of a hassle, you'll pretty much have to just pick one of the two looks and stick with it. And while flame fist and fire effect parts are included just like in the HG, they're not made of clear plastic — they're just plain red plastic.

The charm of Build Burning Gundam lies in recreating all kinds of poses using those flashy flame effect parts, and in SD form, the unique imagination that comes with the format lets you use the effect parts in even more varied ways. (See photos) On top of that, just like previous releases, you can remove the helmet and body armor and swap it with other BB Senshi series kits (mainly Musha Gundam types) for some armor-swapping fun.

Overall it's a solid, no-frills SD kit at the ¥600 price point. Some of the ball joints do pop out during posing, but that's kind of an SD kit tradition (-_-) so you can let it slide. Either way, if you're a Build Fighters fan, this is a fun little SD kit worth putting together. :-)
