SD Cross Silhouette

Sisquiede

Kit Review

Straight build

Sisquiede has been released as part of the SD Cross Silhouette series. The Sisquiede is a mobile suit from "SD Gundam G Generation Mono-Eye Gundams," a WonderSwan game for Bandai's handheld console, and it was well known as one of the so-called mono-eye Gundams. Beyond just having a mono-eye, it had a pretty sleek design that earned it a modest fanbase — and now it's been made into a plastic model for the very first time.

The basic setup is the same as previous kits — it comes with the SD frame and can be swapped out with the separately sold Cross Silhouette frame. Compared to earlier releases, the color separation has been improved a bit, and the beam saber now comes with separate beam effect parts, so you can tell some extra effort went into this one. It even includes the signature cloak transformation feature, and with all that attention to detail, the price reflects it too — at ¥1400, it's on the pricier end of the SDCS lineup.

The signature mono-eye is rendered in a premium 3D jewel seal, and you can remove the helmet to rotate it as well. The massive I-Field Launcher comes with two handles so you can hold it with both hands, though you'll definitely want the CS Frame to get more natural-looking poses out of it. The four cloak binders on the back can also be positioned freely, making them a great tool for adding some dynamism to your poses.

Even though it's in SD form, if you've been waiting for a Sisquiede kit, this is going to be a very welcome release — and even if you're seeing it for the first time, it's a solid kit that's plenty fun to build. :-)
