SD Cross Silhouette

Wing Gundam Zero EW

Kit Review

Straight build

Wing Gundam Zero EW has been released as the 13th kit in the SD Cross Silhouette series. It's the ever-popular mobile suit that used to be called the Wing Zecker, and it faithfully follows the standard SDCS format.

Switching between the SD Frame and CS Frame works the same as previous kits, and with the CS Frame installed, the elbows and knees become articulated, allowing for dynamic poses that you wouldn't expect from an SD kit. In particular, the iconic Twin Buster Rifle forward-firing pose is pretty tricky to pull off with the SD Frame since the arms are too short to get the angle right. If that's the pose you're after, using the separately sold CS Frame will definitely give you a much more natural and impressive result.

The Twin Buster Rifle combination is reproduced as a detachable setup, and the ball joint looseness issue that's typical of this series shows up here too. Wings, arms, and legs can pop off pretty easily during posing, so you'll want to handle things with a gentle touch.

That said, the overall proportions and styling are thoroughly up-to-date, so you could easily call this the ultimate SD-scale Wing Zecker. If you're a fan of the Wing Zecker, this is definitely a kit you'll have a lot of fun with. :-)
