SD Cross Silhouette

Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam

Kit Review

Straight build

This is the SDCS Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam, released as part of the SD Cross Silhouette series. Like recent SDCS kits, it comes with both the SD frame and CS frame included. It's a top-tier SD kit that delivers gimmick recreation beyond expectations — really well done.

The process of swapping between the SD frame and CS frame is pretty much the same as before. There are quite a few seals involved, but combined with solid color separation, the snap-fit color reproduction is excellent. That said, it's still an SD kit, so arms and legs can pop off during posing — and since the backpack is heavy, you'll need to angle the legs back carefully just to get it standing upright.

The highlight of this kit is its faithful gimmick recreation. The high-energy beam rifles can be combined and mounted on the sides, the wings deploy and expand nicely, and you can even borrow the beam shield from the HGCE Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam and attach it here. On top of that, the oversized SD head is put to good use — the forehead beam cannon opening gimmick is reproduced as well.

All in all, it's a well-rounded kit with great quality and gimmick recreation that should satisfy SD fans. I was a bit disappointed that the Rising Freedom Gundam only got the EX-Standard treatment, so I'm genuinely glad the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam made it into the SDCS lineup. :-)
