Kit Review

Destiny Gundam has been released as the 9th kit in the SD EX-Standard line, reborn with fresh new proportions. The basic setup is the same as previous kits — a minimal parts count paired with a generous helping of seals that give it a surprisingly solid snap-fit look.
Compared to the BB Senshi, the proportions are noticeably more refined, and the wings are bigger too, with black seals added to give it a much fuller, more voluminous feel. That said, the beam cannons and beam swords that mount on the back come out looking pretty thin, which makes them feel a bit underwhelming. Worst of all, the fit between the beam cannons/beam swords and the backpack mount is just poor — they keep falling off, which is genuinely frustrating.
Like the rest of the series, this kit lets you recombine the wings and weapons to pull off two original gimmicks not found in the source material, and they actually look pretty cool. Anyway, aside from the terrible weapon retention on the back, it's a decent enough kit — and personally, when it comes to looks alone, I actually prefer the EX-Standard over the BB Senshi. :-)
