SD EX-Standard

Unicorn Gundam O2 Banshee Norn [D.M.]

Kit Review

Straight build

The EX-Standard series has released the Unicorn Gundam Banshee Norn alongside the Sinanju. It's essentially the previously released Unicorn Gundam kit with a changed molded color and a few extra parts added — and the Banshee's signature gold frame is all handled with seals.

Unlike the BB Senshi, which could represent both Unicorn Mode and Destroy Mode, the EX-Standard comes fixed in Destroy Mode. The EX-Standard series has great proportions, but the BB Senshi is also quite well done in its own right, so the visual difference between the two isn't all that big. The accessories like the rifle and shield are a bit too thin and flimsy, which does make it look relatively cheaper in comparison. That said, the EX-Standard is literally half the price of the BB Senshi, so there's definitely enough value there to justify it.

The basic setup is the same as previous kits, so you can't avoid the hollow backs and a hefty amount of seal work — but it's still a worthwhile kit in that it delivers a decent look for how easy it is to build. If you want a more complete SD Banshee, the BB Senshi is the way to go, but for those who just want something quick and easy at a low price, this one's worth recommending. :-)
