Kit Review
Straight build
Straight build
Just when we thought the EX-Standard series was done, Nu Gundam has arrived as a new release after about three years. The basic setup stays true to the series concept — small gates make cleanup easy, and the part count is kept to a minimum so the build is nice and simple.
For the low part count, it pulls off a pretty convincing silhouette and proportions, though the hollow-backs on the inner elbows and rear legs are hard to avoid. That said, solid color separation and a generous helping of seals give it a great out-of-box look. Articulation isn't anything to write home about — it's an SD after all — but the joint strength is decent enough that posing is fairly comfortable. The fin funnels are each made of two parts so they don't separate, but on the plus side they lock in nice and solid.
As for the EX-Standard's original gimmick, you can combine the backpack, weapons, and fin funnels into a combined armament — and it can be configured to a size that works well on an HG kit. All in all, it's a solid SD kit that's easy to build at an affordable price, and the real appeal here is simply that we now have another SD Nu Gundam design to enjoy. :-)
